TVS Motor is set to enter the electric cargo vehicle market, according to an official statement on Monday. The company recently introduced its electric three-wheeler passenger vehicle in Kolkata, alongside launches in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi. Plans are underway to release the cargo version in the October-December quarter of FY 2025-26.

The adoption of electric vehicles in the three-wheeler segment is on the rise. TVS Motors business head, commercial mobility, Rajat Gupta, stated, "We launched the electric three-wheeler in Kolkata along with UP, Bihar, J&K and Delhi in the passenger segment. The company aims to make a foray into the electric cargo three-wheeler segment during the December quarter of the next financial year, that is, by the end of the current calendar year."
Electric Vehicle Market Growth
TVS currently holds a ten per cent market share in the alternate fuel segment for three-wheelers, which includes CNG, LPG, and electric variants. This share is expected to increase as more consumers adopt electric vehicles. The company produces these three-wheelers at its Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu.
The Hosur plant has a production capacity of 5,000 units per month. This capacity can be expanded if needed to meet growing demand. Battery cells are imported from Korea and assembled by an Indian partner.
TVS Motor's strategic move into electric cargo vehicles aligns with its broader vision for sustainable mobility solutions. By expanding its product range, TVS aims to strengthen its position in the evolving electric vehicle market.
