Twitter To Add Bitcoin and Ethereum Addresses On Profiles

Twitter, a microblogging network, maybe working on ways for users to accept Bitcoin and Ethereum payments. Alessandro Paluzzi, an Italian mobile developer, tweeted pictures indicating that users will soon be able to add their Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet addresses to their Twitter profiles.

According to Paluzzi, the goal is to allow users to receive cryptocurrency tips via the Tip Jar function. Users can utilise the service to send money to other people's accounts.

Back in July, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey hinted that Bitcoin might be integrated with the Tip Jar. Paluzzi posted photographs yesterday revealing that Twitter is testing the option to tip in bitcoin through the Bitcoin Lightning app Strike.

Paluzzi posted a screenshot on Twitter demonstrating how users would be aware that they will be able to receive cryptocurrency tips via the social media platform. While sources suggest that Twitter is leveraging Strike's services to issue Bitcoin invoices over the Lightning Network, Paluzzi claims that adding Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses to your profile does not require linking a Strike account.

It's unclear when Twitter plans to make this feature available to users. Given the current trend, Twitter may initially just make this functionality available to users in the United States, since cryptocurrency use has yet to reach or become mainstream in many places.

Twitter recently launched the long-awaited Super Follow function, which allows creators and influencers to charge their followers for access to exclusive content. This feature has also begun to go out to users in the United States and Canada.
