The Aadhaar card includes a unique 12 digit unique number that serves as an all-in-one identity proof for resident Indians. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the administrative body, has halted two services relating to address validation and reprinting of the old Aadhaar card. According to a Hindustan Times report, UIDAI has discontinued the option to update address details in an Aadhaar Card via the validation letter. According to UIDAI, the address validation letter service has been suspended until further notice.

However, the address can still be updated by submitting any of the 45 documents specified on the official portal of UIDAI. Recently UIDAI has disclosed a direct link for the Aadhaar Cardholders to update their address details online. To know about the step-by-step guide, please click here. The reprinting of old Aadhaar cards is another service that the UIDAI has discontinued. Previously, cardholders can reprint an old Aadhaar card if they misplaced the original. According to the report of Live Hindustan, the services appear to have been halted. But in order to get an old Aadhaar Card, one can still download an e-Aadhaar Card online. UIDAI recently clarified that all 12-digit numbers are not Aadhaar. Before recognizing Aadhaar as identity proof, it is imperative that it should be validated. Regarding the same, UIDAI has informed its customers via its Twitter handle that "All 12-digit numbers are not Aadhaar. It is recommended that the Aadhaar should be verified before accepting it as identity proof. Click: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify and verify it online in 2 simple steps."
