UIDAI Extends Free Aadhaar Update Window: Residents Get 3 More Months To Update Details

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for the free updation of Aadhaar information to facilitate a smoother process for residents. The deadline, which was initially set for December 14, 2023, has now been pushed to March 14, 2024. This extension comes in response to the positive feedback received from residents utilizing the myAadhaar portal for updating their details.

The extension applies exclusively to the myAadhaar portal, where users can avail of the service without incurring any charges. However, it's important to note that a fee of Rs 50 is applicable for the same service at physical Aadhaar centres, as was the case before.

UIDAI has actively encouraged residents, especially those who obtained their Aadhaar cards a decade ago and never updated them, to take advantage of this opportunity. The focus is on revalidating demographic details by uploading Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) documents. For residents requiring changes to their demographic information such as name, date of birth, or address, both online updates and visits to the nearest Aadhaar centre remain viable options.

Residents who want to utilize the free service can do so by visiting the official myAadhaar portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/portal and logging in using their Aadhaar number. Once logged in, a One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile number to ensure secure access.

To initiate the update process, users can navigate to the 'Document Update' section, where they can verify their details and upload the necessary documents to revalidate their information. It is crucial to submit proof of identity and address through the official website to avail of this extended facility.
