The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised the fee structure for several Aadhaar-related services, with the changes coming into effect from October 1, 2025. This marks the first increase in Aadhaar update charges in nearly five years and will impact millions of Aadhaar holders across the country.
UIDAI Revised Fee Structure For Aadhaar Card Related Services: Check Latest Fees To Update Aadhar
While applying for a new Aadhaar card remains free, the cost of updating existing Aadhaar information has gone up. The fee for making demographic updates-such as changes to name, address, date of birth and gender-has increased from Rs 50 to Rs 75. Similarly, the fee for biometric updates (which includes fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs) has been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 125.

UIDAI has clarified that the updated charges apply only to services requested after the initial issuance of an Aadhaar card. This means that cardholders who need to make changes or corrections to their existing Aadhaar records will now have to pay more than before.
However, there is no change in the fee structure for newborns. Aadhaar cards for infants will continue to be issued free of cost. In addition, UIDAI has also provided some relief for children aged 5 to 7 years and teenagers aged 15 to 17 years, who are required to undergo mandatory biometric updates. Earlier, a fee of Rs 50 was charged for these age-specific biometric updates, but that charge has now been waived, making these updates free of cost.
This move acknowledges the need for regular biometric updates as children grow, while ensuring that parents are not burdened by the extra expense. Despite the fee waiver, these biometric updates remain mandatory in both age groups.
Doorstep Aadhaar Update Service Available at Rs 700
For those unable to visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre, UIDAI continues to offer a doorstep update service using a mobile Aadhaar machine. The cost of this home-visit service remains unchanged at Rs 700. To avail of this facility, users need to email UIDAI and schedule an appointment for an update to be carried out at their home or preferred location.
The updated fee structure applies across all UIDAI-authorised Aadhaar Seva Kendras and centres nationwide. Citizens planning to make changes to their Aadhaar data are advised to carry valid original documents supporting the update, whether demographic or biometric.
