Speaking at an event in Coimbatore, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared insights into her unexpected journey to becoming a minister. She emphasized the importance of faith and hard work, saying that one should never forget there is 'some infinite grace' above all. Later, she presented miniature models of the Chandrayaan-3 rocket to students.
Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in a recent event held in Coimbatore, reflected on her journey to becoming the country's Finance Minister. Addressing a gathering of students at PSG R Krishnammal College for Women, she shared that she never imagined holding this esteemed position and emphasized the importance of acknowledging an 'infinite grace' above all.
Sitharaman’s Unexpected Political Journey

The Union Minister candidly admitted that her rise to the role of Finance Minister was not something she had envisioned for herself. Despite lacking a political background, Sitharaman found herself one day assuming this crucial responsibility. "Did I imagine becoming Finance Minister of the country? No chance," she stated frankly.
Sitharaman credits not just hard work and sincere efforts but also some higher power for her unexpected journey into politics. She said, "I am being spiritual here. Instead of only praying to God, we should put in sincere efforts...But never forget that you cannot reach your destination without some infinite grace."
Influence of Spirituality on Her Leadership
On numerous occasions during her tenure as Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister, Sitharaman has leaned on spirituality to help navigate challenges. During difficult times when confronted with obstacles, she reminds herself about the existence of cosmic power which gives strength and guidance.
"I always say that you God have brought me this far; please show me the way to overcome this obstacle. That is what I pray," revealed Sitharaman while addressing young women who are future leaders themselves.
A Day Dedicated To Empowerment
Besides sharing personal insights from her life's journey so far, Sitharaman also took part in empowering economic activities earlier in the day by distributing loans amounting to Rs 3,749 crore to over one lakh beneficiaries. In a symbolic gesture of encouraging scientific curiosity and achievement, she later presented miniature models of the Chandrayaan-3 rocket to students of Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School.
In conclusion, Sitharaman's journey as Finance Minister is an inspiring testament to the power of hard work, sincerity, and faith in a higher power. Her words serve as a reminder that success often comes from unexpected places and circumstances. At the same time, her actions reinforce her commitment towards economic empowerment and promoting scientific learning among young minds.
