President Trump intends to permanently pause immigration from Third World countries, citing the need to recover the US system. His administration plans to reverse Biden-era policies, deport non-beneficial individuals, and tighten visa regulations.
US President Donald Trump announced plans to "permanently pause" immigration from "Third World Countries" to allow the American system to recover. He expressed this intention in a detailed post on Truth Social, criticising current immigration frameworks for undermining technological advancements and worsening living conditions.
Focus on Immigration Policies
Trump shared a list of measures his administration intends to pursue. These include reversing what he termed as "millions of Biden illegal admissions" and deporting individuals deemed non-beneficial to the United States. He also plans to end federal benefits for noncitizens.

Trump also aims to denaturalise migrants who he believes undermine domestic peace. He plans to deport those considered public charges or security risks. Additionally, he wants to address what he describes as illegal admissions through unauthorised processes.
Reaction to Recent Incidents
The announcement came after two National Guard members were shot near the White House, with investigators linking the ambush to an Afghan national. Trump blamed the attack on the previous administration's immigration vetting policies.
In response, the Trump administration has initiated a review of asylum cases approved under the Biden administration. They are also scrutinising Green Cards issued to citizens of 19 countries. This follows the revocation of around 80,000 non-immigrant visas for offences ranging from DUI to assault.
Changes in Visa Policies
Earlier this month, the administration revoked thousands of visas. These actions were taken for various offences, including driving under the influence, assault, and theft. Social media vetting and expanded screening have also been tightened.
Trump criticised the previous administration for allowing unvetted Afghan nationals into the country. He shared an image of a large crowd from Afghanistan, expressing his commitment to fixing the situation and holding those responsible accountable.
In his Thanksgiving message, Trump stated, "HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for — You won't be here for long!" This message underscores his administration's firm stance on immigration.
Trump's focus on immigration has been a central aspect of his presidency, reinforcing his belief that both legal and illegal immigration pathways pose security risks to Americans.
