Union Minister Jitin Prasada announced that Uttar Pradesh will soon host a semiconductor manufacturing unit. He expressed optimism that the state will be among the select few to have such advanced facilities. Speaking at the 21st Indo-US Economic Summit by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Prasada highlighted India's position as a major investment hub, particularly in semiconductors.

The minister emphasised that Uttar Pradesh is poised to become a key growth driver for India. "We will start work on a semiconductor plant in Uttar Pradesh also. I am very confident that the state will be among the few places to have such niche facilities," Prasada stated, describing this development as significant. This announcement follows closely after an agreement between India and the US to establish a semiconductor fabrication plant in the country.
India-US Partnership and Technological Growth
Prasada noted that the recent memorandum of understanding signed by the Prime Minister with the US focuses on chip manufacturing. He stressed the importance of integrating these technologies into everyday life, as semiconductors are vital for India's digital transformation goals. The minister also highlighted the government's commitment to spreading technological benefits across urban and rural areas.
He further mentioned that convergence and partnership are crucial for advancing semiconductor development. "The India-US partnership will have far-reaching impact," Prasada remarked, underscoring the significance of collaboration between the two nations in this sector.
Cyber Security and Economic Resilience
Addressing cyber security concerns, Prasada pointed out its growing importance due to the shift from physical warfare to cyber threats. He emphasised that ensuring robust cyber security measures is essential in today's digital age.
On India's economic outlook, Prasada stated that the country's growth trajectory remains strong and resilient, backed by sound fundamentals. He noted that India is progressing rapidly towards its goals, reflecting confidence in its economic strategies.
Strengthening Indo-US Bilateral Ties
Discussing Indo-US relations, Prasada highlighted that the partnership has evolved into an equal one, with both countries reaping mutual benefits. This collaboration is expected to further strengthen ties and foster growth in various sectors.
The establishment of a semiconductor unit in Uttar Pradesh marks a significant step towards technological advancement in India. This initiative aligns with broader goals of enhancing digital infrastructure and fostering international partnerships for sustainable growth.
