Uttarakhand Cloudburst: Nearly four people died and over fifty people went missing after a massive cloudburst triggered flashflood and mud slides in Uttarkashi's Dharali village on Tuesday, August 5. The rescue operation is underway by team of the National Disaster Relief Forces (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Indo Tibetian Border Police Force, to rescue the victims of Uttarakhand cloudburst.

The recent flash flood took around 4 kilometre from the Indian Army camp at Harsil at approximately 1:45 pm on Tuesday. The flashflood was followed by landslide. The incident shut all the road connectivity to the sacred Gangotri Dham.
The Uttarakhand disaster led to a torrent of water and debris, overwhelming the region and prompting an emergency multi-agency response. The disaster unleashed a torrent of water and debris and affected hundreds of residents in the area.
The areas in Uttarkashi affected due to the flash floods and landslides are close to the winter seat of Ganga Ji at Mukhba and the location is a holds a highly spiritual significance among Hindus. Several viral videos and footages recorded by tourists and even the Indian army have showed a violent stream carrying debris cascading down the hills and destroying multiple houses and vegetation.
PM Modi Expresses Grief, Uttarakhand CM Dhami Reviews Situation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the situation and has also assured of full support to the Uttarakhand government in dealing with the disaster.
"I pray for the well-being of all the victims. I have spoken to Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami ji and obtained information about the situation. Under the supervision of the state government, relief and rescue teams are engaged in every possible effort. No stone is being left unturned in providing assistance to the people, " tweeted PM Modi
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami is closely monitoring the ongoing rescue operation in Uttarkashi.
"The news of heavy damage caused by a cloudburst in the Dharali (Uttarkashi) region is extremely sad and distressing. SDRF, NDRF, district administration, and other related teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations on a war footing. In this regard, I am in constant contact with senior officials, and the situation is being closely monitored. I pray to God for everyone's safety," stated Dhami on X.
