Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stressed the importance of banks in facilitating reverse migration by simplifying loan processes for people in remote hill areas.
Dehradun, January 15: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the crucial role banks can play in the state government's efforts to reverse migration. Addressing the State Credit Seminar organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Dhami urged banks to become partners in the mission and simplify the loan disbursement process for the needy and deserving people in remote hill areas.

Reverse Migration: A Key Focus
Reverse migration refers to individuals returning to their hometowns and earning a livelihood there instead of working outside their state. Recognizing the importance of this concept, Dhami called for a special campaign to allocate loans in the hilly regions. He stressed the need for better arrangements to ensure easy access to loans for those in need.
Targeted Loan Allocation
To achieve effective loan distribution, Dhami proposed that each bank branch should work with a specific target for the allocation of NABARD's loan scheme. He highlighted the significance of rural and backward area development, emphasizing its role in the state's reverse migration mission.
Harnessing Uttarakhand's Potential
The Chief Minister highlighted the favorable climate and geographical conditions of Uttarakhand for various sectors such as horticulture, aromatic plants, medicinal plants, dairy, fisheries, beekeeping, mushroom farming, and organic agriculture. He suggested that banks conduct special camps to enhance credit flow in these areas, thereby promoting economic growth and job opportunities.
Addressing Credit Deficient Districts
Dhami identified Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Tehri as credit deficient districts and called for special attention to increase loan allocation in these regions. He acknowledged the importance of these measures in fostering overall development.
NABARD's Support for Uttarakhand
NABARD has prepared a loan scheme of Rs 40,000 crore for Uttarakhand this year, representing a 33% increase compared to the previous year. Dhami hailed this initiative as a boon for small farmers and individuals engaged in small and medium industries in the state.
Equal Development of Urban and Rural Areas
The state government, under Dhami's leadership, aims to achieve equal development of urban and rural areas. He emphasized the need for special schemes for women, encouraging NABARD officials to initiate programs that empower women and contribute to their economic well-being.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's address at the State Credit Seminar organized by NABARD underscores the state government's commitment to reverse migration and promote inclusive economic growth. By seeking the support of banks and implementing targeted loan allocation strategies, Uttarakhand aims to harness its potential, address regional disparities, and create opportunities for its citizens, ultimately contributing to the overall development and prosperity of the state.
