Congress veteran V. D. Satheesan officially took oath as the new Chief Minister of Kerala on Monday after the United Democratic Front's (UDF) returned to power in the state after nearly a decade defeating LDF in the Kerala assembly election 2026.

The grand swearing-in ceremony was held at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, where Satheesan took oath along with a 20-member Council of Ministers.

Several senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Mallikarjun Kharge, attended the event as the Congress-led UDF formally ended the LDF government's rule in Kerala.

According to the election affidavit submitted during the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, VD Satheesan and his wife Lakshmipriya jointly own assets worth around Rs. 6.69 crore.

As per the affidavit, VD Satheesan Net Worth includes movable assets, immovable properties, gold holdings, bank deposits and liabilities.

As per the affidavit, VD Satheesan declared movable assets worth approximately Rs. 53.82 lakh. These include cash holdings, bank deposits, shares and gold assets.

The affidavit further revealed that VD Satheesan owns immovable assets worth nearly Rs. 2.42 crore. These include land and residential properties located in Paravoor and Nettoor in Kerala.

His wife's immovable assets are valued at approximately Rs. 1.85 crore.

The total assets crossed over Rs. 6 crore which means that VD Satheesan is in the list of financially well-established politicians in Kerala politics.
Despite declaring assets worth several crores, the Kerala CM has also reported liabilities in his election affidavit.

VD Satheesan, whose full name is Vadassery Damodaran Satheesan, is one of the well known Congress leaders in Kerala. He represents the Paravur Assembly constituency in Ernakulam district and has won the seat six consecutive times.

According to the details publicly available, V.D. Satheesan was born on 31 May 1964 in Nettoor, Kerala. He has a B.A. and LL.B. degree and practiced as a lawyer at the Kerala High Court for nearly 10 years. He later entered full-time politics and gradually became one of the key faces of the Congress party in Kerala.
