The initial public offering (IPO) of Vibhor Steel Tubes Limited has commenced today, marking a significant milestone for the steel pipe manufacturer. With the IPO set to run until February 15, 2024, investors have the opportunity to participate in the company's growth journey. Vibhor Steel Tubes has set the price band for its IPO at Rs 141 to Rs 151 per equity share, aiming to raise Rs 72.17 crore through the issuance of fresh shares.
The book build issue is proposed for listing on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), with plans for IPO allotment to be finalized by February 16, 2024. The listing on both exchanges is tentatively scheduled for February 20, 2024.

Retail investors have a minimum investment requirement of Rs 14,949, while non-institutional investors (NIIs) and qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) have higher minimum lot sizes of Rs 209,286 and Rs 1,001,583, respectively. The last Grey Market Premium (GMP) reported for the IPO stands at Rs 120 as of February 13, 2024. This indicates a projected listing price of around Rs 271 per share, reflecting an expected percentage gain of approximately 79.47%.
The steel tubes and pipes industry has demonstrated steady growth over the past five years, with production increasing at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of about 10% from FY19 to FY23. Similarly, consumption in India has risen at a CAGR of 8.5% during the same period, indicating strong demand for these products.
However, concerns have been raised regarding Vibhor Steel Tubes' heavy reliance on Jindal Pipes Limited, with over 90% of its business tied to this partnership. Other risks include potential disruptions in raw material supply, high working capital requirements, and historical negative cash flow.
In light of these factors, broking firm Master Trust advises investors to adopt a medium to long-term perspective when evaluating the Vibhor Steel Tubes IPO. While the industry outlook appears positive, it's essential for investors to carefully assess the company's risk factors and growth prospects before making investment decisions.
The Vibhor Steel Tubes IPO presents an opportunity for investors to participate in the growth of the steel tubes and pipes industry in India.
However, prudent evaluation and consideration of risks are crucial to making informed investment choices in the IPO market
