The second day of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit witnessed the signing of several MoUs, including a notable investment from Simmtech in the semiconductor sector. Agreements were also finalized in the port sector, showcasing the summits effectiveness in promoting economic partnerships.
The 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, held in Gandhinagar, witnessed a series of significant developments on its second day. Three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed in the semiconductor sector, including a notable investment commitment from South Korean firm Simmtech.

Simmtech's Investment in PCB Manufacturing
Simmtech, a South Korean company, pledged an investment of Rs 1,250 crore in Gujarat for printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. The company plans to establish its manufacturing unit in Sanand, Ahmedabad. This investment is expected to boost the state's electronics manufacturing ecosystem and create employment opportunities.
Business-to-Business Collaborations
In addition to Simmtech's investment, two business-to-business (B2B) MoUs were signed in the semiconductor sector. One MoU was between ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel and Micron Technology, while the other was between NAMTECH New Age Makers Institute of Technology and Cisco. These collaborations aim to foster innovation and strengthen the semiconductor industry in Gujarat.
Agreements in Various Sectors
Beyond the semiconductor sector, several other agreements were finalized on the second day of the summit. Five MoUs were inked in the port sector, with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) entering into partnerships with the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. These agreements focus on jetty and infrastructure development, with proposed investments of Rs 800 crore and Rs 174 crore, respectively.
Semiconductor Design Ecosystem and Talent Development
The Ahmedabad-based Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) signed an MoU with the Gujarat Knowledge Society to establish a semiconductor design ecosystem and facilitate talent development for space and commercial technology.
Port Infrastructure Development
The Deendayal Port Authority at Kandla in Gujarat and Umeandus Technologies signed an MoU with an investment proposal of Rs 10,000 crore for port infrastructure-related development.
Renewable Energy Partnership
Jio Energy and the Gujarat government signed an agreement worth Rs 17,200 crore in the field of renewable energy, demonstrating the state's commitment to sustainable development.
Digital Commerce Platform
The Gujarat government entered into an MoU with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to enable vendors and retailers to utilize the digital platform, promoting e-commerce growth in the state.
Agreements in Food Processing and Skill Development
Business agreements were also signed in the food processing and skill development sectors, further diversifying the state's economic landscape.
Skilling for Industry 4.0
Recognizing the importance of workforce development, eight MoUs were signed for skilling the workforce for Industry 4.0. Additionally, 14 agreements were inked with the Kaushalya Skill University to meet the skill requirements for the global future workforce, preparing individuals for the demands of advanced industries.
Port-Related Centre of Excellence
The Gujarat Maritime University and Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd signed an MoU to establish a port-related centre of excellence in the state, enhancing maritime education and expertise.
Seminars and Conferences
Day 2 of the summit featured 13 country and state seminars, seven seminars organized by various organizations, and 11 thematic conferences, providing diverse platforms for knowledge sharing and discussions.
Gujarat's Commitment to Innovation
The Gujarat government, having announced a semiconductor policy, aims to manufacture the country's first "Make in India" chip by 2024. The state remains committed to maintaining its leadership position in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), information technology, biotechnology, fintech, drones, and semiconductors.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit continues to serve as a catalyst for economic growth and innovation in the state, attracting investments, fostering collaborations, and shaping the future of various industries.
