Auto Major Volkswagen Group and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) sealed a pivotal deal on Friday. This landmark agreement marks the first-ever supply deal between the two giants, paving the way for the integration of Volkswagen's MEB components into Mahindra's bespoke electric platform, INGLO.
This strategic collaboration underscores their shared commitment to advancing e-mobility and heralds a new era of innovation in sustainable transportation.

The agreement encompasses the provision of specific electric components and unified cells. This milestone signifies a deepening of the collaboration between Volkswagen and Mahindra, which initially began with a partnering agreement and a term sheet in 2022. Both entities will persist in assessing opportunities for further collaboration and expansion.
Mahindra will pioneer the use of Volkswagen's revolutionary unified cell concept, a cornerstone of their battery strategy. The supply agreement, spanning multiple years, is expected to encompass a total volume of approximately 50 GWh over its lifetime.
Volkswagen Group and Mahindra are committed to enhancing their presence in India's electric vehicle market and accelerating the region's electrification efforts.
Mahindra intends to introduce five all-electric SUVs in India, utilising its newly developed INGLO electric platform, beginning in December 2024. India, boasting over five million new vehicle registrations annually in 2023, stands as one of the globe's largest automotive markets.
Electrifying the passenger car segment is poised to gain substantial momentum in the upcoming years.
Volkswagen's MEB platform and its components are utilised by the Group brands Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, and SEAT/CUPRA, along with external partners such as Ford and Mahindra.
The partnership with Mahindra is spearheaded by Volkswagen Group Technology and its "Platform Business" unit, in collaboration with Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd.
