Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
The USD 157 million (approximately Rs 1,300 crore) order will provide the new line of 1,200 electric locomotives with improved operating performance, efficiency, and safety. Wabtec's advanced braking systems will equip the locomotives with critical safety features, ensuring high reliability and reduced maintenance intervals.
Long-Term Partnership and Local Manufacturing
Under the terms of the order, Wabtec will supply Siemens with brake systems from its Hosur plant in India for a period of 11 years. Additionally, Wabtec will provide maintenance services for 35 years, demonstrating the company's long-term commitment to supporting the Indian Railways. Siemens, on the other hand, will assemble the locomotives at the Indian Railways factory in Dahod, Gujarat.
