Wipro, a leading IT company, announced plans to recruit 10,000-12,000 individuals in FY25 to support its growth. The Bengaluru-based firm assured that it will honour all job offers made to candidates. "We would be completing all our backlogs of offers made this fiscal, a commitment to the people we have made offers to," stated CHRO Saurabh Govil.

Hiring Plans and Partnerships
Wipro aims to hire both on-campus and off-campus during the fiscal year. "We would be onboarding around 10,000-12,000 people this fiscal. We also have relationships and partnerships with certain institutes, so we will go to these institutes and off-campus for hiring," Govil explained. He added that the company is preparing for similar hiring numbers next year.
The company's headcount for the June quarter stood at 2,34,391, marking an increase of 337 employees in the first quarter of the fiscal year. "We are seeing a marginal improvement in headcount. After a break of a year, we have started onboarding freshers from campus. We onboarded about 3,000 people this quarter," Govil noted.
Commitment to Growth
Govil emphasised that Wipro is building its workforce to be ready for future growth. "Very clearly, we are building muscle so that we are there -- ready -- as growth comes back," he said. The company will continue hiring for specific skill sets globally based on demand.
In comparison, Wipro's larger competitors Infosys and TCS have announced plans to hire around 20,000 and 40,000 freshers this fiscal year, respectively. This indicates a competitive landscape in the IT sector regarding talent acquisition.
Wipro reported a 4.6 per cent increase in net profit for Q1FY25, amounting to Rs 3,003.2 crore. Despite this positive financial performance, shares of Wipro closed at Rs 557.25 each on the BSE on Friday, reflecting a decline of 2.78 per cent from the previous close.
Wipro's strategic hiring plans and commitment to fulfilling job offers demonstrate its focus on growth and readiness for future opportunities in the IT industry.
