On International Women's Day, the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BRICS CCI) Women Empowerment Vertical (BRICS CCI WE) hosted its 4th Annual Summit in New Delhi. The summit brought together prominent figures, including Rajya Sabha MP Sonal Mansingh, veteran film actress Poonam Dhillon, and former BRICS Sherpa Sanjay Bhattacharyya, to discuss the crucial role of women's empowerment in achieving sustainable development.

Women as Active Agents of Change
Ruby Sinha, President of BRICS CCI WE, highlighted the significant shift from women's development to women-led development. This transition represents not only a change in narrative but also a commitment to empowering half of the population. Sinha emphasized that women are no longer viewed as passive recipients of aid but as active agents of change, capable of leading and shaping their own development and that of their communities.
Women's Leadership for a More Equitable Society
Sonal Mansingh, the chief guest at the summit, stressed the indispensable role of women's leadership in building a more equitable and prosperous society. She emphasized that empowering women is not just a moral imperative but also a strategic necessity for sustainable development. By harnessing the potential of women, societies can unlock their full potential and achieve inclusive growth.
BRICS CCI and Women Empowerment
The BRICS CCI is a prominent organization dedicated to promoting commerce and industry in the BRICS nations and other friendly countries. Recognizing the importance of women's empowerment, the organization established the BRICS CCI WE to focus specifically on women empowerment initiatives and policies across different regions. Through this vertical, the BRICS CCI aims to create a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action to advance women's empowerment and gender equality.
The BRICS CCI WEs 4th Annual Summit served as a powerful platform to reaffirm the critical role of women's empowerment in achieving sustainable development. By bringing together influential voices and stakeholders, the summit emphasized the need to move beyond mere rhetoric and take concrete actions to empower women and ensure their meaningful participation in all spheres of life. Empowering women is not only a moral obligation but also a strategic imperative for building a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous world.
