The wholesale price-based inflation measured by the WPI index increased for the second straight month in February to 4.17%. This is as the prices of food, power and fuel increased. In January WPI inflation stood at 2.03%, while in February last year it was at 2.26%.
The food articles in February witnessed 1.36 percent inflation after seeing fall in prices for some months. In January, it stood at (-) 2.8 percent.

The inflation seen in pulses was 10.25 percent during the review period, while for fruits it was 9.48%, and in fuel and power category it came in at 0.58%.
The rate of increase in price for vegetables was (-) 2.9 percent and in January it was at (-) 20.82 percent.
Further, as per the data notified last week, retail inflation indicated by CPI or consumer price index came in at 5.03%.
In its last monetary policy for the FY 21, the RBI stood pat on interest rate and said the near term outlook for inflation has become favourable.
