After days of scorching heat, Bengaluru residents today are excited for the much-needed rainfall. This morning, cloudy skies and cool breezes were a big relief to Bangaloreans. In its latest advisory, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city, predicting heavy rainfall today. This sudden change in weather has brought a big relief to Bangalore people who had been frustrated by the high temperatures in the city.
Bengaluru's temperatures are likely to dip
The IMD, stated that the ongoing weather shift will significantly lower temperatures across Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka. The city has been experiencing unusually high temperatures, making this rainfall a much-needed respite. The weather department attributed this change to an active cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, specifically near the Tamil Nadu coast.
Heavy Rainfall Expected in Karnataka
Apart from Bengaluru, several regions of Karnataka are also expected to receive rainfall. The IMD predicts that due to the influence of cyclonic circulation, the state will witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in North Interior Karnataka, while some areas may experience heavy showers.
A Twitter account named Karnataka Weather stated, "Moderate to intense powerful thunderstorms likely over most parts of the state in the Malenadu, Coastal, Central, Kalyana Karnataka & South Interior Karnataka regions, including Bengaluru city, today until late night. Stay safe."
IMD Issues Precautionary Measures
In addition to the yellow alert, the IMD has advised residents to exercise caution over the next two days, as isolated regions of Karnataka could experience hailstorms. The weather department has urged people to limit unnecessary outings and follow safety guidelines during this period.
The department also warned that a depression has formed off Odisha's coast, which may intensify into a cyclone, potentially influencing weather conditions further in Karnataka. As a result, Bengaluru and other parts of the state can expect cloudy weather, gusty winds, and significant rainfall over the coming days.

Bengaluru Residents Welcome the Change
After enduring intense summer heat, Bengaluru residents have expressed their relief at the change in weather. Many have taken to social media to share their joy at the cooler climate, with hopes that the showers will continue and provide further relief from the rising temperatures.
As Bengaluru braces for heavy rainfall, residents are advised to stay updated with the latest Bengaluru weather news and follow IMD advisories to ensure safety during this period of changing weather conditions.
