Aadhaar Card: Your Aadhaar card carrying 12-digit number, date of birth, address and other details is likely to get a makeover soon. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is planning to redesign Aadhaar cards and change the way they look, reported news agency PTI.
From fresh look to filtered details, the revised Aadhaar card will reportedly display limited details of the card holders. The revised Aadhaar card design will restrict the misuse of the document for verification by entities like hotels, event organisers, etc.

Aadhaar Card New Look: Key Things To Know
The revised Aadhaar card will feature only the photo of the cardholder and a QR code. Unlike the present version of the document, the new version will display limited information.
Other details like age, date of birth, address, and other information of the cardholders will not be visible on the physical document.
The revised format of Aadhaar may display the date of birth of the cardholders and this will make the age verification process using Aadhaar easier and safer.
The revision of Aadhaar look is aimed to discourage offline verification by entities like hotels, event organisers, etc, said UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar at an event, reported PTI.
It is a common practice at hotels, event organisers, and even other places to submit the photocopy of a visitor's Aadhaar for offline verification. The new version of Aadhaar would discourage the practice, as per the PTI report.
"There is a thought process as to why there should be any detail on the card. It should be only a photo and a QR code. If we keep printing, then people who know how to misuse it will keep misusing it," PTI quoted Kumar.
Apparently, the Aadhaar Act, prohibits the collection, use, or storage of an individual's Aadhaar number or biometric information in the name of offline verification. The move is likely to be a step towards ensuring the Aadhaar card holders privacy.
Aadhaar Related Fraud Cases
Due to the widespread practice of storing Aadhaar photocopies in for offline verification, cardholders often become prone to information leak and Aadhaar related fraud cases.
Aadhaar App
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recently launched its new Aadhaar mobile application to provide easier access for Aadhaar card. The new application is now available for Android as well as Apple smartphones.
The application will let investors to carry residents' Aadhaar number and demographics data via name, date of birth, gender, address, and photograph on mobile phone. The Aadhaar application will help Aadhaar holders to download their Aadhaar details on mobile phones.
