ZF Rane Automotive India Ltd, a joint venture between the Rane Group and Germany's ZF, has launched a Rs 100 crore inflator manufacturing and sled test facility in Tamil Nadu. This new facility, located at the ZF Rane Trichy plant, is about 350 km south of Chennai. It aims to produce 3 million inflators annually for driver and passenger airbags.

Enhancing Local Manufacturing
The facility will help increase local content in airbags, aligning with the Make in India initiative. "The inauguration of the Inflator and Sled Test facility at ZF Rane in Trichy marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to enhancing safety in the Indian automotive industry," said Harish Lakshman, Managing Director of ZF Rane Automotive India Pvt Ltd. He added that boosting local manufacturing capabilities positions them better to meet market demands.
Investment and Technology
ZF Rane has invested nearly Rs 100 crore in this facility to enhance testing capabilities and reduce product lead-time. "This state-of-the-art facility reinforces our dedication to delivering global technologies matching the evolving needs of our customers while maintaining the highest standards of quality," said Lakshman, who is also the Chairman of Rane Group.
Commitment to Quality
The investment aligns with the goal of bringing top-tier technology into India. It aims to help customers by increasing local content and reducing development lead-time. "With this investment, we are well prepared to capitalize on the sustainable growth potential of the passive safety systems market," said Rudolf Stark, Executive Vice President of ZF LIFETEC.
ZF is a global technology company that supplies advanced mobility products and systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial technology. The new facility will produce both driver and passenger inflators from its state-of-the-art setup at the Trichy plant.
The investments are designed to support longstanding customer relationships and proven technology. They also aim to enhance system competence and maintain quality leadership. Stark emphasized that these factors set them apart from others in the industry.
The new facility not only boosts local manufacturing but also strengthens their Make in India efforts. This move is expected to meet growing market demands more efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
The launch of this facility marks a significant step towards enhancing safety in India's automotive sector. By increasing local production capabilities, ZF Rane aims to better serve its customers and contribute to the country's industrial growth.
In summary, ZF Rane's new inflator manufacturing and sled test facility represents a major investment in India's automotive safety infrastructure. This initiative aligns with national goals and promises to deliver advanced technology with reduced lead times for customers.
