Markets have been extremely volatile over the last 2-weeks. Foreign Portfolio Investors have been selling heavily into the Indian markets. Traders and investors are advised to stay away from the markets due to the volatility. Here are a few stocks that hit the lower end of the circuit filter today.
Stocks hitting the 5% lower circuit limit today
| Stock name | Last traded price | Circuit limit |
|---|---|---|
| Cinevista | 12.63 | 5% |
| Focus Lighting | 109.5 | 5% |
| Praxis Home Retail | 62 | 5% |
| Shiva Mills | 113.6 | 5% |
| Tata Teleservices | 124 | 5% |
| Universus Photo | 824 | 5% |
| Zodiac Energy | 95 | 5% |
Some stocks are out of circuit filter
Some of the stocks that we have mentioned above have now come out of the circuit filter. For example, Zodiac Energy is now no longer in the circuit filter. However, what we have been saying is that these stocks in the course of trading today have hit the circuit filter limits.
It is advisable not to buy or sell into these stocks, due to the volatility ahead. While these stocks themselves have been volatile, the other thing is that the markets too have been exceedingly volatile.
We suggest that investors stay away from volatility.
Markets likely to fall more
Our own belief is that the markets are slated to fall even further in the coming days, as geo-political tensions mount. There maybe a brief reprieve for the markets today, but, there is a possibility that they could continue to slide lower in the coming days. The US Fed meet slated for mid-march would be closely watched given the way inflation has been panning out in the US. Should there be a 50 basis points hike in interest rates in the US, global markets are likely to see renewed levels of volatility. We suggest that investors who only want to invest for a period of 2-3 years should invest into stocks. One must also stay clear from penny stocks and stocks like multibagger stocks of lesser known companies. Go for stocks that have a strong management and good track record of paying dividends. Investors should be careful as volatility has touched a new peak. Invest only if you have an appetite for risk.
