Aadhaar Card Update Alert: UIDAI Extends Last Date To Update Aadhaar For Free Extended, Check New Date Here

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has yet again extended the deadline to update the Aadhaar Card for free by three months to March 14, 2024. Those individuals who want to update their personal details like mobile number, residence, or any other demographic details can do so by visiting the myAadhaar portal.

One must note that you can only update your Aadhaar details free of cost on myAadhaar portal. This is because, at designated Aadhaar Card update centres, this service of UID update attracts a fee of Rs 50.

This service is free only on the myAadhaar portal and attracts a fee of Rs 50 at physical Aadhaar centres.

The latest UIDAI memorandum says, "Based on the positive response from the residents, it is decided to extend the facility for 3 more months i.e. from 15.12.2023 to 14.03.2024. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue to be free of cost through myAadhaar portal."

How to use the free Aadhaar Card update service?

Step 1: You can access the free service by logging onto https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/portal
Step 2: Click on 'Update Demographic Data and Check Status'. Log in to the portal using your Aadhaar, and the OTP will be sent to your mobile number.
Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar card number and captcha.
Step 4: Enter the OTP you received on your registered mobile number.
Step 5: Next, select 'Update Demographics Data'.
Step 6: Choose the relevant options on the next page and click on 'Proceed'.
Step 7: The changes can be made on the next page. Upload the relevant document next.
Step 8: After reviewing the details you have entered, submit the change request. You can use the Update Request Number (URN) to track the status of the address change.

To complete the update process, the resident needs to upload the supporting Proof of Address (POA) documents.
An individual's documents will be verified against requested data at a later stage at UIDAI's Update back-office by a Verifier. The resident needs to have a mobile number registered with Aadhaar for using this service.
