Best Mutual Funds: Growing Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) inflows are a reflection of the growing trend of mutual fund investment in India. Amid increasing interest around mutual funds, their past performance, consistent returns, and categories have become some of the key factors to select the best fund in a category.
However, consistent performance is not limited to a single style or segment, and steady performers are emerging across the market caps and strategies. Here are the most steady and consistent performers across different mutual fund categories, as per CRISP Mutual Fund Scorecard for September 2025, released by Share.Market (PhonePe Wealth Broking Private Limited).

Most Consistent Performers in MidCap Category
Motilal Oswal, Nippon India and Edelweiss have emerged as the most consistent performers across the categories.
Consistent Mutual Funds Schemes in Large Cap Category
Mutual funds from ICICI Prudential and HDFC have emerged as the consistent performers with long-term results without taking excessive risk, as per the report.
ELSS Segment
The segment saw consistent returns from schemes by HDFC, Franklin India, and SBI. These funds have underscored strong investment processes despite market fluctuations.
Flexi Cap Funds
HDFC, Franklin India and JM have emerged as the most consistently performing mutual funds in the category. As per the report, these schemes have performed well across varying market conditions.
Contra/Value Funds
HSBC, SBI, Nippon India funds have extended their record of disciplined value-driven investing.
Small Cap Mutual Funds
Nippon India, HSBC, and Tata are among the most consistent performers in the category. Which means that small cap mutual funds of these companies have delivered consistent returns and steady outcomes throughout the years.
Hybrid Funds
These funds continued to show resilience with ICICI Prudential, Edelweiss, and UTI leading teh aggressive hybrid segment. Whereas, Baroda and BNP Paribas, ICICI Prudential and Nippon stand out in the balanced advantage strategies.
"In an environment of high volatility, from global trade uncertainties to domestic market corrections, investors who stay the course through disciplined SIPs and diversified exposure are better positioned for long-term wealth creation," said Nilesh D Naik, Head of Investment Products, Share.Market.
"The latest CRISP Scorecard highlights that chasing winners based on past performance is not a sustainable strategy. Instead, consistency and a balanced approach to risk is what drives results over time," Naik added.
