Starting October 1, 2024, ICICI Bank is set to overhaul its airport lounge access policy for several of its debit cards. This move is aimed at offering enhanced perks to its customers while aligning with current spending trends. Here's everything you need to know about these new changes, the eligibility criteria, and how to maximize your benefits.
New Lounge Access Criteria
Under the new policy, ICICI Bank debit cardholders will be eligible for two complimentary airport lounge passes each quarter. However, to qualify, cardholders must spend a minimum of Rs 10,000 in the preceding calendar quarter. This means that for complimentary access in the October-December 2024 quarter, cardholders must spend at least Rs.10,000 between July and September 2024.

Cards Covered Under the New Policy
The revised criteria will apply to the following ICICI Bank debit cards:
ICICI Bank Coral Series:
Coral Paywave Debit Card
Rupay Coral Debit Card

Eligibility Criteria
To ensure that you qualify for the complimentary lounge access, it's crucial to understand which transactions count towards the Rs 10,000 spending limit. Eligible transactions include:
E-commerce Purchases: Online shopping and other e-commerce transactions.
Point of Sale (POS) Transactions: In-store purchases made using the debit card.
Transactions that do not count towards this limit include:
ATM Transactions: Cash withdrawals from ATMs.
Cash Withdrawals: Any form of cash withdrawal from the debit card.
By focusing your spending on eligible transactions, you can meet the Rs 10,000 threshold and enjoy complimentary lounge access in the next quarter.
New Changes
Previously, the spending limits for lounge access were significantly lower. For instance, Coral and Business Coral debit cards required a spend of only Rs 3,000 per quarter, while Rubyx and Expressions Coral cards had a limit of Rs 4,000. The new Rs 10,000 threshold represents a big increase.
Once you meet the spending criteria, accessing the lounges is straightforward. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Present Your Card: Show your valid, unexpired ICICI Bank debit card at the lounge entrance.
Provide Travel Documents: Present a valid air ticket or boarding pass for travel on the same or the next day.
Authorization Charge: An authorization amount of Rs 2 will be charged to your card at the lounge entrance.
Entry for Cardholder Only: Complimentary access is typically limited to the cardholder. Accompanying guests may incur additional charges.
Note: It's important to note that this program is managed by a third party, and access is subject to their terms and conditions.
To make the most of these revised lounge access rules, plan your spending accordingly. By targeting eligible transactions, you can ensure that you meet the Rs 10,000 quarterly requirement and enjoy the perks of complimentary airport lounge access.
