Mutual funds have had a good run over the last 3-years, while the going has been slightly difficult over the last 1-year. Here are 5 mutual fund schemes from the SBI stable that have been the best performers over a 3-year period. Please note, we are just highlighting the performance of the schemes over 3 and 5 years and this should not be considered as an advisory to invest.

| Name of scheme | 3-year performance | 5-year performance |
|---|---|---|
| SBI Contra Direct Plan, Growth | 43.87% | 15.26% |
| SBI Magnum Midcap, Direct, Growth | 39.37% | 13.14% |
| SBI Small Cap Fund, Direct, Growth | 37.87% | 15.08% |
| SBI Consumption Opportunities, Direct, Growth | 34.04% | 12.10% |
| SBI technology, Direct, Growth | 34% | 19.22% |
The SBI Contra Direct Plan Growth has been one of the best performers over a 3-year period from the SBI stable. The fund has holdings in stocks like GAIL, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Equitas Small Finance Bank etc. A large part of the mutual fund performance would be based on market movement. Should the markets move significantly higher from these levels, it is widely expected that the fund performance too would follow. The midcap and small cap funds from the SBI stable have also performed well. However, in these cases the risk would be higher given that mid and small cap stocks are more volatile.
The SBI Technology Fund also makes it to the list over a 3-year period, but, the problem right now is that technology stocks are seeing a good amount of selling pressure on fears of a recession risk. The US Fed has been hiking interest rates to tame inflation and this has led to technology stocks falling. Should a global recession be a reality, we would see technology stocks continue to fall over the short to medium term.
