Many leading private and public lenders recently hiked interest rates on fixed deposits after Reserve Bank of India's move to raise key repo rates to control the surging inflation that has touched new highs. A few days back Punjab National Bank hiked interest rates on FDs below Rs 2 crore and new rates became effective on July 4.
Below is the comparison of latest FD interest rates offered by four top lenders namely HDFC Bank, States Bank of India, HDFC Bank, and Axis Bank:
1. SBI Bank
The bank is currently offering a minimum 2.90% interest rate for tenors 7 days to 45 days while under this tenor senior citizens are offered 3.40% interest rate. The bank is offering the highest interest rate for FD maturing 5 years and up to 10 years. General public can get an interest rate of 5.50% while senior citizens can get an interest rate of 6.30% under this tenor. Check the table below for more detail:

2. PNB Bank
The bank is offering higher interest rates than SBI bank. The minimum interest rates begin at 3% for FD maturing in 7 days to 14 days while senior citizens can fetch 3.50% under this tenor for term deposits less than Rs 2 crore. The new rate became effective on July 4, 2022. The highest interest rate is available for the tenor of above 5 year and up to 10 years. General citizens can get an interest rate of 5.60% and senior citizens can get an interest rate of 6.10% for term deposits less than Rs 2 crore. Senior citizens are offered lesser interest rate in PNB for 5 years to 10 years FD than SBI Bank.

The bank is offering the minimum interest rate of 2.75% for FDs for the tenor of 7 days to 29 days while senior citizens are given higher interest rate of 3.25% under this tenor for term deposits less than 2 crore. The maximum interest rate is 5.75% for general citizens and 6.50% for senior citizens for the tenor of 5 years 1 day to 10 years.
