One of the oldest schemes still in operation, the SBI Long Term Equity Fund (SBI LTEF), reached a significant milestone, completing its 32 years in the mutual fund industry. The IDCW Option was added to the fund on March 31, 1993, and the Growth Option was added on May 7, 2007.
As of March 28, 2025, a Rs. 10,000 monthly SIP investment (or Rs. 38.5 lakhs invested) maintained from the scheme's inception will be worth Rs. 14.44 crores, yielding returns of 17.94% CAGR. In comparison to its benchmark BSE 500 TRI returns of 14.30% in 15 years, 15.14% in 10 years, 17.17% in 5 years, and 13.89% in 3 years, the scheme has produced returns of 16.03% in 15 years, 17.59% in 10 years, 24.31% in 5 years, and 23.42% in 3 years.

According to Mr. D P Singh, Deputy Managing Director and Joint CEO of SBI Mutual Fund, "Investors under the old tax regime should adopt a holistic perspective on their investments. As of March 31, 2025, the scheme's AUM was Rs. 27,730.33 crores. Mr. Dinesh Balachandran, Head of Investments, has been in charge of the fund managers since September 2016.

About SBI Long Term Equity Fund
With a 3-year lock-in period and a diversified equity portfolio, the SBI Long Term Equity Fund generates long-term wealth and offers tax benefits on contributions up to Rs. 1.5 lakh. The fund allocates 20% of its assets to money market instruments and no less than 80% of its assets to equity, cumulative convertible preference shares, fully convertible debentures, bonds, etc. As of April 02, 2025, the SBI Long Term Equity Fund-Regular Plan-Growth (ELSS) has the latest closing NAV of Rs. 407.1208.
As of March 31, 2025, the Regular scheme's expense ratio is at 1.6%, while the Direct scheme's expense ratio stands at 1.07%. Moneycontrol reports that 90.32% of the fund's investment is in domestic stocks, with 51.61% going to large-cap companies, 8.92% to mid-cap stocks, and 6.61% to small-cap stocks. Of the fund's 0.15% debt investment, 0.15% is in government securities.
The top 10 holdings of SBI Long Term Equity Fund are HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Hexaware Technologies, Tata Steel, Torrent Power, Axis Bank, M&M and SBI. The fund's top five sectors of allocation are financial, technology, energy, healthcare, and metals and mining.
