The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Mutual Fund Asset Management Limited has introduced a New Fund Offer (NFO) named 'LIC MF Nifty Midcap 100 ETF' to tap into India's anticipated economic growth. The NFO, led by Sumit Bhatnagar, Fund Manager - Equity at LIC Mutual Fund, commenced on February 8, 2024, and is set to conclude on February 12, 2024. Following the closure, the scheme will reopen for continuous sale and repurchase on February 19, 2024.
This newly launched fund is designed to closely mirror the total returns of securities represented by the Nifty Midcap 100 Total Return Index, with a key focus on long-term investments. The benchmark for the scheme is set against the Nifty Midcap 100 Total Return Index, ensuring investors can align their returns with market performance, albeit subject to tracking errors.

Investors eyeing the LIC MF Nifty Midcap 100 ETF are required to make a minimum investment of Rs 5,000, with subsequent investments in multiples of Re 1. Units will be allotted in whole figures, and any remaining balance below the minimum amount will be promptly refunded.
Sumit Bhatnagar, the Fund Manager for this scheme, is confident about the potential of the LIC MF Nifty Midcap 100 ETF. He believes that the investment product is being launched at an opportune moment, taking into consideration the robust projected growth of India and the favourable outlook on financial markets.
Ravi Kumar Jha, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LIC Mutual Fund Asset Management Limited, shared his optimism, stating, "LIC Mutual Fund is optimistic about the potential of LIC MF Nifty Midcap 100 ETF. Given the prevailing macro environment, we feel we are launching the Fund at the right time. As per the International Monetary Fund Report, the growth in India is projected to remain strong in the upcoming years. Additionally, the Centre's positive outlook on high GDP growth rate and reduced market borrowing plan may bode well with the financial markets."
The LIC MF Nifty Midcap 100 ETF is presented as a long-term investment opportunity, primarily involving equity and equity-related securities. The portfolio will replicate the composition of the Nifty Midcap 100 Total Return Index, aligning with the risk profile of investors looking for potentially higher returns. However, it is crucial to note that the associated risk is categorized as "very high," emphasizing the need for investors to carefully evaluate their risk tolerance before venturing into this investment avenue.
As the NFO progresses, market analysts and financial experts are closely observing the LIC MF Nifty Midcap 100 ETF, gauging its performance and impact on the investment landscape. Investors keen on capitalizing on the potential growth in India and the positive market outlook are advised to conduct thorough research and consult financial advisors to make informed decisions regarding their investment portfolios.
While the LIC MF Nifty Midcap 100 ETF offers an enticing opportunity for long-term investors, the high-risk nature of the scheme underscores the importance of cautious consideration and informed decision-making in navigating the dynamic landscape of the financial markets.
