Here are few safety tips to consider when making payments through mobile.
1) Use different passwords
Protect your mobile from unauthorized usage with a different and unique password they tend to act as the first layer of safety.
Use different passwords for device lock and net banking and mobile apps. This will make your transactions more secure.
2) Transaction limit
If you are using e-wallet to make payments, make sure you do not keep higher amount and better to set an upper limit for any financial transactions in the e-wallet.
Banking apps also have the option to set the limit on the transactions.
3) Mobile payments apps
Make sure that you have downloaded the correct app as there are many fake apps which look very similar to the original with only negligible differences. Check for app reviews and ratings.
So, better to download apps of trustworthy sites. Downloading from third party sites can be a risky affair.
4) Secure internet connections
Using public internet or Wi-fi for banking transactions is a bad idea. Avoid making payments through a common desktop or through internet cafe.
When banking via mobile ensure the site is HTTPS, not HTTP. This means the data transferred is only between the two systems. Specially when you login to make payments ensure that the site starts with https://
6) Change MPIN
Change MPIN or the security password for accessing mobile banking services at regular intervals.
The MPIN or Mobile-Personal Identification Number generated by the bank account holder for accessing mobile banking services should be kept secure.
Do not forget to update the browser apps or any updates from your bank app.
