Axis Smalll Fund direct Growth plan has given annualized returns of 40.46% return in 3-years and absolute returns of 177.14%. This scheme is one of the top performer among its peers over the same period.

This scheme has even given double digit return of 19.69% over 5 years and since inception it has given 23% return on annualised basis. On absolute basis the small cap fund has 145.78% return in 5 years and 590.90% return since inception.
During the bearish phase of the markets, period April 2019 to April 2020, Axis Small Cap Fund has given a negative return of 14.79%. While during the bullish phase of the market between Feb 2020 to May 2020, the scheme has given a triple digit return of 100. 71%.

Portfolio details of Axis Small Cap Fund
Axis Small Cap Fund is an equity mutual fund scheme predominantly having stocks of small cap companies in the portfolio. The portfolio of the scheme is constructed such that it has 83.77% allocated to equity, 16.17% to debt and 0.06% to cash holdings. The total number of equity stocks held in the portfolio are 83 domestic equities, out which 0.33% is in Large Cap stocks, 5.22% is in Mid Cap stocks, 60.41% in Small Cap stocks. Top 5 stocks constitute 18.25% by weight and include Narayana Hrudayalaya, Galaxy Surfactants, Fine Organic, CCL products and Brigade Enterprises.
Top three sectors by weight are Chemicals (12. 86%), Financial (10.97%), and Healthcare (10.29%) among total 14 sector the scheme has made investments.
Axis Small Cap Fund suitability
This scheme is suitable for investors who are looking to invest money for a minimum period of least 3-4 years and looking for very high returns. At the same time, these investors should also be ready for possibility of higher losses in their investments for it has extreme risk because of heavy exposure to small cap stocks held in the portfolio. The scheme is available in regular plan and IDCW otption as well.
