Bartronics India Expands Platform-Led Agritech Rollout from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh

Bartronics India Limited has moved its agritech strategy from planning to live roll-out, completing the first phase of its pan-India farmer onboarding and digital platform deployment in Maharashtra, and preparing to extend the model into Uttar Pradesh and other key agricultural regions.

Over the last two weeks, the company conducted 10 field engagement sessions across major farming districts in Maharashtra, interacting with farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations, cooperatives, traders, commission agents, logistics providers, warehouse operators, food processors, and rural service providers active across the agricultural value chain.

Through these interconnected networks, Bartronics India now has access to several lakh farmers and, via associated FPOs, cooperatives, dealers, and rural intermediaries, the reach extends to more than one million farmers, giving the company a sizable base for its platform-led agritech model.

According to the company’s stock exchange filing, "The engagements reflect Bartronics India's platform-led approach, integrating farmers with market access, logistics, storage, and allied services rather than addressing farmer needs in isolation," highlighting the focus on end-to-end linkages rather than stand-alone schemes or short-term pilots.

Bartronics India stated that learnings from the Maharashtra execution will guide the next phase in Uttar Pradesh, where the company already has a strong operational base, before a staged expansion into additional agricultural belts across India under its broader agritech roadmap.

Vidhya Sagar Reddy, Managing Director, Bartronics India Limited, said: "Our focus in Maharashtra has been on building a connected, ground-up agritech ecosystem rather than isolated interventions. The strong participation from farmers and ecosystem partners validates our platform approach, and this model is now being taken forward into Uttar Pradesh and other regions as part of our pan-India agritech strategy."

Bartronics India agritech strategy supported by Ampivo AI digital platform

Ampivo AI, working under a Memorandum of Understanding with Bartronics India, joined the field sessions and carried out a soft launch of its multilingual agritech application, which is being positioned as the digital core of the initiative and deployed alongside the on-ground activation.

The application is designed for farmer onboarding, mapping of different ecosystem participants, and enabling a marketplace layer across stakeholder groups, so that services for inputs, outputs, logistics, and finance can be organised on a single digital framework aligned with Bartronics India’s farmer-centric platform.

The program has pan-India ambitions, but Maharashtra serves as the first live test bed for the model, with Uttar Pradesh scheduled as the next major activation zone, followed by a gradual roll-out into more agricultural districts once performance, adoption, and data from early stages are assessed.

Crop coverage and regions in Bartronics India agritech strategy

The farmer networks engaged in the sessions span several important crops, chosen to ensure crop-specific relevance and multi-season usage across regions, covering onions, cashews, mangoes, wheat, jowar, and bajra, thereby allowing the platform to address diverse growing patterns and market cycles.

The crop and region focus can be summarised as follows:

CropPrimary focus region in current phase
OnionsMaharashtra
CashewsMaharashtra
MangoesMaharashtra
WheatMaharashtra and planned Uttar Pradesh
JowarMaharashtra
BajraMaharashtra and planned Uttar Pradesh

Bartronics India is shifting from pilot activities to what it describes as full, multi-layer agritech execution, seeking to build a measurable and sustainable farmer-focused digital platform that links identification, transaction, logistics, and storage with on-ground relationships across India.

Founded in 1990, Bartronics India Limited is an Indian IT company specialising in Automatic Identification and Data Capture solutions, including bar coding, biometrics, RFID, smart cards, and point-of-sale systems, and is now applying this technology experience to large-scale agritech deployment for farmers and agri stakeholders.
