The 30-share benchmark index ended the trade at 25623.35, lower by 537.55 points, while the NSE Nifty was at 7791.30, down by 171.90 points.

On the global front, Asian indices ended lower after China"s Factory Activity contracted and the Yuan weakened. European shares were also trading down after the plunge in Chinese shares.
