It was another day of gains for the markets with the Sensex ending flat and finishing another week with good gains.

The Sensex ended the day flat at 26843.03, while the Nifty closed marginally higher by 1.85 points.

Leading the set of gainers in trade were stocks like Axis Bank, which jumped 3 per cent, while other notable gainers were Hero Motor Corp, Bajaj Auto and Mahindra and Mahindra.

All of the top gainers from the Nifty were from the auto and the 2-wheeler space. Idea Cellular had a terrible day in trade with the stock falling 10 per cent, after reports that Providence was selling a stake in the company.

Pharma stocks continued their weak run with Lupin and Sun Pharma falling in trade. PSU banking stocks saw some selling pressure with State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Bank of India being among the top losers.

Shares in NMDC gained after reports that the iron ore mining major is considering a buyback of fully paid-up equity shares of the company of face value of Rs 1 each. The stock was up 4 per cent in trade.

Among the non index stocks, Quick Heal Technologies rallied 4 per cent. The stock has been on a decline for the last few trading sessions.

Meanwhile, markets across Europe were trading with gains, ahead of the US jobs data, which would decide which way interest rates in the US would move.
